The Craft Range originally had only one target: make the best quality homebrew beer and cider kits in the world. These amazing home brew kits are only available to home brewers in Ireland and Northern Ireland. We later expanded into the highly competitive 7 and 14 day homebrew wine kit market, where we dramatically improved the quality by adding special wood chips and also creating unique herbal combinations.
Cider Kits: That's a very big challenge! So how did they go about it? Firstly, they evaluated dozens of apple juice producers, and picked the ones best suited to making cider kits. Secondly they spent years developing a revolutionaly new cider yeast strain; it does not produce those horrible aromas and flavours abundant in other cider kits.
The end result . . . we will let you be the judge of that! One thing we can say with confidence though: if you try these kits, you will never go back to any other cider kit.
So what about value? We get these kits directly from the manufacturer, cutting out middlemen. This has resulted in fantastic pricing, up to 25% below what it would otherwise be. The best cider kits in the world have just become affordable.
We have also worked with the manufacturers to develop equipment that will yield the best possible quality cider. There is no point in having the best ingredients if your equipment lets you down.
Beer Kits: The Craft Range manufacturers asked the question: what makes a truly great beer kit?
That's a bigger question than one might think! To answer it, they identified the main components of most beer kits: hopped liquid malt extract (LME), and yeast.
So they began a quest for the very best LMEs, and now use 3.0 Kg to 3.4 Kg in the beer kits. As the premier yeast development experts, they already had the best yeast strains. A very important advantage.
There was just one thing missing: hopped LME cans retain their bitterness, but unfortunately they tend to lose aroma "freshness" very quickly. So the Craft Range beer kits come with hops which are added during fermentation to add wonderful aromas and character to the beer. The amount of hops ranges from zero in the wheat kits, to 75 grams for the IPA kits.
The yeast and hop sachets are nitrogen and CO2 flushed, and then vacuum packed to the very highest standards to ensure that you don't lose any of the goodness.
Reading the profiles of the beer kits will make your mouth water: the wheat beer has a "wonderful aroma of banana and cloves", and has a "deliciously smooth and full bodied bubble gum flavour, with a delicate and lingering clove-like aftertaste". Have you ever heard of another wheat beer kit described like that? Its what you get when you combine the very best quality malt extract kits with the very best yeast strains.
